LeafGuard Gutters of South Dakota Case Studies: Custom LeafGuard® Downspout Watertown South Dakota
Two 11′ sections of LeafGuard® gutters were installed on each side of the home front entry. Every section of gutter requires a downspout to dispel water away from the home and foundation. Finding the correct location for a downspout can prove challenging, depending on the home structure. The pictured front entry has a mulch garden and casting water run off there, would only soak the foundation and risk water leaking into the basement. Instead of running the downspout down the siding (the back end of the LeafGuard® section) the best solution was to lead the downspout, down the porch column, using a combination of LeafGuard® accessories for a watertight and seamless downspout.
Our technicians used a combination of LeafGuard® “A” & “30°” elbows to seamlessly run the downspout around the column bump-out. Two “A” elbows were used at the top of to allow a piece of downspout to lie flat on the column. To get around the “bump-Out”, two 30 degree elbows were used and then another piece of downspout was connected. The homeowner chose to have a hinged downspout, for easy lawn mainentance. Our technicians added a tip-up and an extra long downspout extension so water is dispersed past the mulch garden and away from the home foundation.
